THE UPPER VILLAGE // BLACKCOMB MOUNTAIN
(a 2-5 minute walk from The Lookout)
Portobello
Serving up home-cooked hearty meals for all times of the day. Their maple bacon donut is an absolute must try before they sell out.
Fifi's Bistro
This locally owned cafe easily serves the best brunch menu in town. Dinners are also a win. As are their coffees for the early riser.
The Wildflower
This restaurant in the Fairmont hosts fine dining dinners, but our favourite is the all-you-can-eat buffet breakfast for $35. An amazing feast to have and be fuelled up for the day ahead.
The Mallard Lounge
Also in the Fairmont, this is our go-to for a late night hot chocolate, cocktail, or dessert, as it's an easy few minute walk back up the hill to The Lookout. The often have live music in the evenings.
Handlebar
A fun little bike-inspired bar with lots of rotating beers on tap and German-style food. A watering hole for locals and tourists alike.

HOT TIP!!: In the slower months (May-June/ Oct-Nov) many restaurants have 'shoulder-season specials'. Where 3-5 courses are only a fraction of the cost! If visiting in these months call the restaurants to see if they're offering these great deals.

awesome!! we will be in touch asap, but will also send you a unique door code a day or two before you check in. the door code is your access to the suite and common areas (like hot tub, gym, pool) and is ideal as you'll never need to worry about loosing a key or fob while visiting. we also have a house manual upon arrival with lots of info.
in the meantime check out our page on our fav things to do. we also encourage you to familiarise yourself with our listing regarding the carpark, house rules, etc.
it sure is ski-in ski-out! while our penthouse (as the name goes) is not on the ground floor (so no you can't ski into the kitchen from the slope) it is directly on the 'merlin's ski run'. put on your boots, walk down the stairs directly outside the front door, and you're right on the ski hill less than 30 seconds later! with uninhibited views of the slope and blackcomb gondola as you sit inside or on the balcony watching skiers and boarders whiz right past, you literally can't get a top floor unit closer to the hill.
vancouver international airport (YVR) is the closest major airport to whistler. here are a few options for getting from yvr to the lookout penthouse:
1- hire a car and drive the 1.5-2hr trip up the sea to sky highway (HWY 99) to whistler.
2- whistler shuttle will take you from the airport directly to the aspens on blackcomb complex
3- catch the canadaline train from the airport into the city to waterfront station. change to the expo line to go to burrard station. prebook to catch an epic rides bus from burrard station to whistler bus terminal. then it's a 15 min walk or 2 min taxi to the lookout.
as we both come from families of 5, we wanted to be able to offer our place to families with 3 kids. while it is the largest one bedroom apartment in the complex- it still only has one bedroom and one bathroom. most of our guests are couples or small families which suits them perfectly and while it is cozy for 3 kids, they love the opportunity to stay! for groups of 5 adults it is still possible, but be aware of the bed layout and that it will be very snug! the king bedroom also hosts a single pull out bed and in the living area is a double sofa bed.
the lookout is located in the benchlands neighbourhood, which is an easy 2 minute walk down the hill to the upper village (or a 30 second ski down to the blackcomb gondola).
the main whistler village is a 7-15 min stroll along a gorgeous, well lit paved valley trail. while the main village has lots of shops and bars, it can be very busy and loud, especially at night, whereas the upper village (where the lookout is) still has shops and eateries, but as our guests know and love- it is perfect for getting a quiet nights sleep!
THE UPPER VILLAGE market is a 5 min walk NEXT TO THE FAIRMONT hotel (ASK A BELLBOY TO POINT YOU THE WAY) WHICH HAS BASIC SUPPLIES and yes they do deliver. otherwise IGA or nesters market are the nearest larger stores, but you may want a car or to catch a taxi if you have a lot of items.
for 19+ the closest blackcomb liqour store ALSO OPPOSITE THE FAIRMONT is a 5 min walk away.
marketplace shopping centre (a 15 min walk away) hosts the iga supermarket, but also has a post office, liquor store, pharmacy and bank.
as much as we love pets too, unfortunately you'll need to keep your furry friends at home. we want to offer a space that is clean, fresh and suitable for those who are hypoallergenic or who have allergies to animals. it's also a rule at the complex that no guests or visitors can bring pets. For these reasons we have a strict no pet (and no smoking) policy- sorry, not even on the balcony.
